Buying a home can be difficult when you have to cover both a down payment and closing costs. Florida's Hometown Heroes program helps eligible buyers with those upfront expenses when purchasing a primary residence.
Eligibility and funding are not guaranteed. Captain Dan will review your situation and check whether program funds are available.
For eligible Florida buyers
Eligible buyers may receive assistance equal to 5% of the sales price, from $10,000 up to $35,000. That assistance is meant to help with down payment and closing costs on a primary residence in Florida. It is not automatic, and it is not a promise that you will receive the maximum — or any amount.
The program serves qualifying Florida workers in fields such as healthcare, education, first response, public safety, courts, and child care, as well as eligible service members and veterans. Income, occupation, first-time homebuyer, loan, and other program requirements apply.

Who may be considered

How repayment works
The assistance is a 0% interest, deferred second mortgage with no monthly payments. It is a loan, not a grant: repayment is generally due when you sell or refinance the home, transfer the deed, or stop using it as your primary residence.
Assistance is not approved just because you read this page. Program funds may or may not be available when you apply. Income limits, occupation definitions, first-time homebuyer rules, and loan guidelines can change.
